Pretty in Pearls: God’s Gorgeous Girls, Building Faith, Voice, and Purpose in the Next Generation

The Girls With Pearls Pretty in Pearls: God’s Gorgeous Girls event was much more than a community gathering. It provided a powerful atmosphere for mentorship, connection, and encouragement, grounded in faith and designed to uplift young girls, families, and guests with hope, wisdom, and strength during turbulent times. From the earliest hours of the morning, there was a noticeable sense of anticipation. Volunteers, board members, and supporters arrived with a shared commitment to excellence, carefully preparing an atmosphere that reflected both beauty and intentionality. By 9:45 a.m., preparations were well underway as every detail was thoughtfully arranged to create a warm and welcoming environment for our girls, families, and guests.

The day began with individual photo sessions, allowing each participant to experience a moment of visibility and affirmation. Our first Girls With Pearls participant arrived at 10:00 a.m., and throughout the morning the room was filled with laughter, joyful conversation, and confidence. These sessions continued until 1:00 p.m., reinforcing a central message that every girl deserves to be seen, celebrated, and valued.

For many years, this gathering was known simply as Community Day. This year, however, the event was intentionally renamed Pretty in Pearls: God’s Gorgeous Girls. This change was not merely about creating a new title, but reflected a deeper purpose and a more intentional message.

In today’s society, young girls are navigating a world filled with competing messages about beauty, worth, success, and belonging. Too often, social expectations, digital media, and cultural pressures begin shaping their identity before they have the opportunity to fully understand who they are and whose they are.

In a world that constantly tries to label, place limits, and define our daughters, Girls With Pearls exists to challenge those narratives by cultivating an environment grounded in faith, dignity, purpose, and core values. We want every girl in the room to know one powerful reminder: you belong to God. You are loved by Him, chosen by Him, and created with beauty, brilliance, and purpose.

For fourteen years, Girls With Pearls has remained committed to empowering young girls through mentorship, the arts, leadership development, civic engagement, and faith-centered programming. The organization continues to cultivate spaces where girls can build confidence, strengthen character, and develop a deeper understanding of their purpose.

Psalm 139:14 declares, “I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” This scripture remains foundational to our work because it challenges narratives rooted in inadequacy and self-doubt. It reminds young girls that their value is not something they must earn. Scripture reminds us in Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I appointed you.” Long before the world had an opinion, God already knew their name, their worth, and their purpose.

The pearl remains a meaningful symbol of the work we do at Girls With Pearls. Pearls are formed under pressure, yet something beautiful and valuable emerges from that process. In much the same way, life will bring challenges, but those challenges do not have to define or break our girls. With faith, guidance, and encouragement, difficult seasons can help shape our girls into confident, resilient, and courageous leaders.

We were honored to welcome two remarkable speakers, Pastor Tracey Barnard and Kimberly Reed. They shared powerful insights and heartfelt encouragement that inspired everyone in the room to live with purpose, pursue excellence, and remain rooted in faith. They also emphasized the importance of building strong character, protecting your personal brand, and leading with integrity. Through their messages, they reminded us that Scripture can provide strength, guidance, and hope to carry us through life’s most difficult seasons.

One of the most memorable moments of the afternoon was the modeling presentation. Each Girls With Pearls participant walked gracefully in beautiful green gowns while reciting her favorite scripture. This moment was about more than fashion or appearance. It reflected confidence, faith, and the boldness to walk in purpose..

Watching our future leaders stand with such confidence and poise was incredibly moving. This moment reflected the heart of Girls With Pearls. We intentionally teach our girls the importance of public speaking, advocating for themselves, and using their voices to create meaningful change in their schools, communities, and beyond. We remind them never to allow anyone to talk down to them because of their age. Their voices matter, their perspectives matter, and they are never too young to lead, speak up, and make an impact.

The program also featured Pearls of Wisdom, where Saraya Brown, Kamaya Ortiz, and Maliah Screven shared what Girls With Pearls means to them. Their heartfelt reflections reminded us that wisdom is not limited by age. When young people are given space to speak, their voices can uplift, inspire, and influence others in powerful ways.

Mazayla Napier’s dance presentation to His Eye Is on the Sparrow, performed by Lauryn Hill, was another highlight of the afternoon. The song served as a beautiful reminder that we are never alone.

Yes, there were cupcakes, cookies, and lemonade, but the day was about so much more than that. It was about loving on our girls, encouraging them, and creating a space where they felt supported, seen, and reminded of just how special they are.

The growth we see in our girls does not happen by accident. It comes through intentional guidance, encouragement, and the PEARLS Framework, which helps shape leadership, character, and confidence.

At the heart of Girls With Pearls is the PEARLS framework: Purpose, Etiquette, Attitude, Resilience, Love, and Service. Together, these six principles provide a holistic framework for identity formation, leadership development, spiritual growth, and character cultivation.

Purpose

Jeremiah 29:11 declares, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Purpose begins with understanding that life is not accidental. Every girl carries gifts, talents, and possibilities intentionally placed within her by God. If your heart is still beating today, you still have purpose, because God still has a plan for your life.

Etiquette

Proverbs 31:25 reminds us, “She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.”

Etiquette extends far beyond table manners. It reflects how a young woman carries herself with grace, dignity, confidence, and respect. Etiquette also includes understanding the power of gratitude. Simple words such as please and thank you communicate humility, respect, and appreciation. Gratitude opens doors that entitlement never will.

Attitude

Philippians 2:5 teaches, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.”

Attitude matters. It shapes how we see life and how we respond when things do not go our way. We all face disappointments, setbacks, and difficult seasons, but our attitude can make all the difference. We teach our girls to choose gratitude over complaining, to stand on faith even when fear whispers, and to hold on to joy in the midst of negativity. A smile can go a long way. Choosing to stay positive does not mean life is perfect, but it means refusing to let difficult moments define you. We also remind them that FEAR is False Evidence Appearing Real. Fear can make things seem bigger than they really are, but faith reminds us that God is greater than anything we face

Resilience

Isaiah 40:31 declares, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

Resilience is the capacity to recover, adapt, and keep moving forward despite hardship. Life will bring pressure and pain, but setbacks do not define destiny. Through faith and perseverance, young girls learn that falling is not failure if they rise again.

Love

1 Corinthians 13:4–7 declares, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.” Pretty in Pearls was more than an event. It was a reminder that love is action. Love is not just something we say. It is something we show through how we serve, encourage, and pour into others. Every girl deserves to feel seen, valued, and loved. Our girls matter, their voices matter, and their future is worth investing in.

Service  “Serve one another humbly in love.” (Galatians 5:13)

Service begins with a willing heart and a desire to help others. At Girls With Pearls, we teach our girls that serving is not a sign of weakness, but a reflection of strength, compassion, and genuine leadership.

When we intentionally pour into young girls through faith, mentorship, and the PEARLS framework, we are doing more than teaching lessons. We are helping raise courageous leaders who know their worth, walk in purpose, and are not afraid to use their voice for change.

At Girls With Pearls, we believe every girl carries something special within her. With love, guidance, and community, our girls are learning to walk boldly, lead with confidence, and shine in the purpose God has placed on their lives.
