“I’d been lucky to have parents, teachers, and mentors who’d fed me with a consistent, simple message: You matter. As an adult, I wanted to pass those words to a new generation.”~Michelle Obama

Have you ever woken up and asked yourself, how did I get to where I am today? If we take a moment to reflect on the pivotal moments of highs and lows in our lives, we often realize it was by the grace of God. Other times, God placed wonderful people in our paths, such as mentors, to help us navigate through difficult seasons.
As we close out Women's History Month, it is important to acknowledge the amazing women in my life who have made a significant impact. From childhood to adulthood, these individuals have guided, supported, and inspired me, embodying the true essence of mentorship.
Reflecting on Women's History Month, compels me to share the profound influence certain women have had on my personal and professional journey. These remarkable women have left an indelible mark on my life, teaching me invaluable lessons, and demonstrating the power of resilience, determination, and compassion.
I often think of my mother, Karen Bost, who instilled moral character and core values. Then there is my grandmother, Esther Bost, who provided a strong Christian foundation, fostering my relationship with Jesus Christ from the age of 13. My other grandmother, Sadie Everett, supported me through my elementary, middle, and high school years, emphasizing the importance of order and cleanliness. My aunt Sakina Cooper saw my potential at a very young age, boosting my confidence despite my self-doubt. I cannot forget Pastor Lavina J. Smith, whose inspiring sermons strengthened my faith and purpose. Lavern Reid encouraged me to enter an oratorical contest at the age 13, leading to second place, and opening doors to further achievements, including a significant first runner up placement in the Miss Teen Pennsylvania Beauty and Talent pageant. My college years were enriched by mentors like Patrice Gilliam-Johnson, Valerie Taylor, Dr. Gwendolyn Sanders, and Dr. Judith Stang, who provided invaluable guidance.
Moreover, individuals like Pastor Glenda Bailey, Pastor Priscilla Bloodsworth, Aunt Stephanie Cain, Dr. Vilicia Cade, Lucy Hardison, Senator Margaret Rose Henry, Apostle Anita Hopes, Lieutenant Governor Bethany Hall Long, and Jeannine DePaul Nelson have been pivotal in teaching me to thrive in both personal and professional realms.
In closing, Women's History Month is a poignant reminder of the remarkable contributions and achievements of women throughout history. Through this month's blog, I have had the privilege of paying tribute to just a few of the women who have profoundly influenced my life. Their stories are a testament to the strength and spirit of women everywhere.
As we celebrate Women's History Month, let us continue to honor and uplift the voices and accomplishments of women, both past and present, recognizing their indispensable role in shaping our world.
